Mental Work Out

This week we were asked to examine the mental work out from our text. What is a mental work out? you may ask. Well  we have to practice our mental exercise to allow for us to practice strengthening our psycospiritual mind  just like we need to work out to strengthen our physical state. A mental work out must be worked at regularly just like our regular work out basically if you don't use it you will lose it .

I got to a late start with this weeks assignment so I have only had a couple of chances to practice these but I will say that I really enjoyed the exercises especially the loving kindness one. I was definitively making with the breathing in of breathing in a loved ones suffering and breathing out happiness this step just clicked for me as did the ones that followed and I can't wait to see what happens as I continue to practice this exercise.

Loving Kindness

Hello All

This week was a very interesting week and I learned a lot, I cant wait to see what you all thought.
If I were to rate my physical well being I would give my self a 6 or a 7 I have really been making a very strong effort to exercise  regularly and eat well cutting out certain foods I have even stopped drinking pop all together. I also have no medical problems so I would say that I am in OK shape but not great shape. Spirituality I would rate my self at about a 4 or a five I know what I believe and feel but have not quite connected with my spirituality a hundred percent I am a work in progress. Psychologically I would rate myself at about the same as spiritually because I have many stressors that I am learning to deal with and handle with out being overwhelmed.

If I were were to take each of these areas and develop goals for them my physical goal which I have already been working on would be to become the healthiest and fittest I can be by eating the best I can and getting regular exercise. Spirituality I would like to connect more with my spirituality spending more time reflecting and identifying my spiritual values. Psychologically I would like to under stress and how to better deal with it so it effects me less.

In this weeks reading we learned about preparing ground this stuck out to me. Learning and reading about loving kindness is the most important thing to stabilize our moods; skillful action and cultivating behavior that is support of integral health and letting go of behaviors that are not; and silence and stillness allow us to  be able to quite our mind and find an inner peace and calmness. This is important in achieving all of our physical spiritual and psychological goals.

Thanks for reading

Journey on relaxation

Today for class we asked to try out a relaxation technique in which we listened to a man with a very soothing voice and music take us on a relaxation journey. We were asked to imagine the blood from our stomachs traveling to our hand and we were suppose to feel our hands become warm and heavy (Which I did). There was a point in the exercise that we were suppose to attempt to lift our hands but should not be able too, this part of the exercise had a little more trouble with because I was able to move them but I was so relaxed that I did not want to. Overall I really enjoyed this exercise and definitively was able to feel myself relax maybe it something that gets better with practice.

Have a great Week!
