This week we were asked to examine the mental work out from our text. What is a mental work out? you may ask. Well we have to practice our mental exercise to allow for us to practice strengthening our psycospiritual mind just like we need to work out to strengthen our physical state. A mental work out must be worked at regularly just like our regular work out basically if you don't use it you will lose it .
I got to a late start with this weeks assignment so I have only had a couple of chances to practice these but I will say that I really enjoyed the exercises especially the loving kindness one. I was definitively making with the breathing in of breathing in a loved ones suffering and breathing out happiness this step just clicked for me as did the ones that followed and I can't wait to see what happens as I continue to practice this exercise.
Hi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteYou're right. A mental workout, like a regular physical workout, will help maintain your "fitness". A mental workout is also about getting to the point of changing your mind set. It's the hard work, effort and commitment that will go into spiritual development to begin to make any change. Bottom line - it takes work and persistence to make and sustain meaningful change, and that is the definition of a mental workout. Hope you're doing well! Rachelle
I like what you have written here i do agree that it take work on our part just like all other things. It also take practice. But i also feel that this is not all we need is to have this mental work out the texted talks about. I think change comes from the inside and not just the mind. There has to be something in the inner most parts of the heart to really have an effective change in life.
